Brugge, Belgium

Hi everyone! It has been a really long time! One of my goals this year is to be consistent and start writing again here. We have so much that has happened since my last post! Lachy is now TWO 😩, we are living abroad in Germany for a big Aldi project, and we have already been traveling all around Europe!

I wanted to share our gorgeous trip to Belgium with you. It was absolutely stunning, and from Düsseldorf, it was only a 3.5 hour drive. So awesome how you can just hop around European countries by car!

As a mom, a thought Brugge was a great long weekend trip to take with a toddler. We carried him on most of the streets and his uppababy stroller was also fine in almost every restaurant or cobblestone sidewalks. Sometimes it can be hard to gauge if you will even use the stroller in Europe. I’m glad we had it here because our entire trip was walking.

We did lots of super fun activities this weekend. We did a horse carriage ride that you can pick up right in the city circle. The host was awesome and drove us around for about an hour, took some pictures of us, and explained lots of rich history of Belgium. We also did a boat canal ride through all of the adorable channels. It honestly was what I pictured Amsterdam to be like! So amazing. So from Thursday to Sunday we really only had two activities and the rest was just go with the flow. I love having a big itinerary for some trips, but long weekend ones I try not to put much pressure on ourselves to do too much because with a toddler it can all go out the door if he is not feelin’ it.

I think one of our favorite parts was trying all of the Belgium style beers up on top of this medieval castle. It overlooked the entire city center with loads to watch as we sipped and enjoyed the view. It’s not a massive city, but you will definitely get your 10,000 steps in each day 🙂

I just love how photogenic all of Europe is. Everything is so fun and exciting to look at and always has so much rich history.

If you have already been to Amsterdam and want something similar but way less crowded, Brugge is totally your spot. There are so many cool hidden bars, delicious waffles around every corner, and the people were so friendly.

Robbie standing in a casual bar that is over 800 years old! “Le Trappiste” .

I hope everyone is looking forward to seeing more of our European adventures because I have LOTS more blog posts coming soon! Can’t wait to share with you all. Happy New year!

Great post and wonderful photos! I had a chance to explore Brugge a few years ago and despite visiting on a rainy day, I fell in love with its cobbled streets and adorable architecture. As we only had a day to see its attractions, our trip was rushed a little bit, therefore I would love to return one day to explore it once again, but this time, at a much slower pace. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you 🤗
